In what ways does your media production develop conventions of real media products?
My film has taken inspiration from various films and I have developed some of the ideas that were portrayed in these films. For example one of the films I looked at when creating the idea for ours is 'The Matrix', in this film the main villain, Agent Smith, was shown to be a professional character through mainly his costume. He wore a full suit which shows him to be smart and professional, I liked the idea of this so I therefore made sure that the villain in our film wore a full suit, although we did change the colours of the suit such as giving a navy suit with a bright coloured tie. Also Agent smith was known to wear sunglasses thus not revealing much of his identity to the audience, this is something we thought about putting into our film but did not due to the fact that it would be almost copying Agent Smith, although we did give our character glasses as a homage to the idea presented in The Matrix.

One of the other ways I developed conventions used in films is in films like Terminator 2 there are many long shots of the Terminator running towards the camera, by giving the full body shot of him running abnormally fast it gives an unsettling feel to the scene. Because our villain is a character capable of doing superhuman things such as running fast I included a similar camera shot during the ending of the trailer but also developed on it because I edited it so that it the long shot cuts to a mid shot, then to a close up to make the character seem more intimidating.

Sound

We have also developed on various conventional ways sound is used within film trailers. One example of us doing this is when in many film trailers such as Star Wars they use narration to help tell the film's story, we have done a similar thing because with our film we include dialogue that is also a diegetic to non-diegetic sound bridge that explains each aspect of J's plan to escape as well as the shot showing the
prop that is going to help. This has developed on normal conventions in films because there is normally background narration without the audience knowing the source of it whereas with ours you know the source of narration and it is explaining what is on the screen rather than the films story-line.
