Question 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
I have learned various things through my audience feedback, the feedback was provided in different forms such as through surveys or on social media websites like Facebook and Twitter where the audience is able to message us with any opinions or feedback to do with our film.
One of the surveys that I conducted was a survey on locations in film, this survey allowed me to learn about how important people believed locations are in films and how ambitious locations can improve the quality of the film. I then created a prezi analyzing the results of the survey so I made sure to take into account what everybody said and how it can apply to my film. For example I asked the question 'How many locations do you expect a film trailer to include?' and the majority of the answers were around the 6+ region, this therefore meant I should have at least 6 locations to meet my potential audience's expectations. When giving the link to my survey I gave the link out to people all around the same age as the target audience, this would help to see the expectations that the relevant age range would have rather than having a completely random and irrelevant age.
I also created a survey on what the audience thinks of current conventional music, what they would expect when hearing the music for a postmodern trailer and how important they felt that music in film is. This was also sent to people of my target audience's age which allowed me to learn about what is expected of our film and how I could refine the music to fit the audience's expectations.
Finally I also used social media to gain feedback on my film's rough cut, our logo and various other promotional photos I would post. This is because when I posted updates, my followers who are interested in the film were able to write comments, replies or like our posts. Some replies could give me feedback such as with one where I posted an on set picture of J and one of the replies was someone saying 'I love the costume', this then told me that the costume was popular and since I knew this it meant I could add in and provide more shots of the orange prison suit costume within the film and on the ancillary tasks.
Another way in which i received feedback was through allowing to people to view the rough cut of my film, after this I gave out a survey asking them their opinions on the rough cut and how they would improve the film. An example of some responses I received were 'it needs sound' or 'it needs to be longer', by receiving all of this feedback it allowed me to make my film so it was up to my typical target audience's standards due to the fact that it was viewed by mainly 17-18 year olds.
